Science Museum 8-28-10

Before my school started back I wanted to take the kids somewhere to enjoy a day with them. We decided to go to Louisville to the Science Museum. It was very education & the kids had a wonderful time. They were so excited they would run from one thing to the next. After several hours at the museum we finished the day by eating at O'Charley's (my favorite place to eat)

First Day of School-8/6/10

The kids were excited to start back to school. I on the other hand had a breakdown. It is hard to believe the kids are growing up so fast. Spencer is in the 2nd grade & Morgan is in the 4th. She didn't want mom anywhere around the 1st day...she wouldn't even let me walk her into class :( Here they are before going into school.


Spencer didn't want me to leave so I stayed at school all day & helped out in the classroom. He enjoyed me being there as long as I wasn't taking pictures :)

Somer-Splash 7-16-10

Trying to play catch up...
Last Friday we went to Somer-Splash with a group of friends. The kids had a BLAST!!!
At first Spencer was a little unsure about everything.

Morgan was ready to jump right in when she got there.

Spencer finally let loose & rode everything in the park...including the speed slide.

Then he talked me into riding it. I rode it 1 time & that was enough for me... He rode it twice. He was a brave boy! Morgan wouldn't even get on it. It was really fast. It was so fast that my contact fell out.

Day out with Girl Scouts

We took our Troop to the Justice Center & Jail for a tour. The girls were a little scared at the jail. They all decided they NEVER want to be in Jail..that is a good thing :) Then we went and toured the Justice Center. They got to sit in the "jury box" during district court. We then went into an empty court room & had some speakers come take to us. The girls & Spencer got to sit in the judges chair. The Sherrif's department came in and talked to the girls. They showed them the taser gun. It was a learning experiece for the girls & adults. We had a GREAT time!

After a morning of tours and learning; we went to a local park and ate lunch. After lunch the girls got to play on the playground for a little while. It was miserably hot, so we didn't stay at the park long.

What a week...

I didn't realize it had been a week since I had posted a blog. There has been so much going on.

Swimming lessons are OVER...the kids learned so much and has LOTS of fun! I am so glad I am able to spend this time with my kids. They didn't have swimming lessons on Tuesday because of the rain. On Wednesday, Spencer decided he was going to jump of the diving board...

We stayed after on Wednesday to swim.

Break time...

Thursday was the last day of swimming lessons. The kids had mixed feelings on this...they were glad they wouldn't have to get up so early, but they were sad that they wouldn't get to swim everyday.
Spencer made it to the steps again...Let's see if he will jump today....

He was SO proud of himself. This was a HUGE accomplishment because last year he wouldn't even put his head under water. After he jumped once he was back in line to do it over & over & over again!

Morgan moved up to Level 4 next year & Spencer will stay down in Level 3 again next year (but he needs that extra year)!

A wonderful weekend

Saturday I decided to spend some time with my mom. It was nice to spend some quality time with her. She fixed me a wonderful supper which consisted of chicken casserole, mac & cheese, fried taters & deviled eggs. After getting the dishes washes I helped her sand gourds.

On Sunday I helped her base coat some gourds so she could get ready to paint them. She is very talented. She said someday she wants me to learn how to paint....and my response was "I will base coat all you want, but I can't paint as good as you." Here is a sample of one of her new gourds.

The kids had a birthday party to go to last night at the pool. Everyone had a great time. Here are some of the pictures.

This is our last week of swimming lessons. I can't believe the kids start school in less then a month.

A PrOdUcTiVe day!

Yesterday was day 2 of swimming lessons. When we first got their they took both of the kids to the 12ft. water. I don't know who was more nervous...me or the kids...

They told them they were going to practice diving. Needless to say Morgan jumped right in.
Spencer on the other hand...had to think about it a little.

Then he got back up & jumped right in...while I wasn't paying attention.

After he got used to it...HE LOVED IT! He was diving everytime I turned around.


After swimming lessons the kids went to Nanny & Pa's to play for the afternoon. Then we took a trip to the park to play a little & watch some ball practice.

I don't have pictures from swimming lessons today on my computer yet, but will try to get them on tomorrow & will post about what they did today with the pictures. After lessons today we came home & cleaned house. When we first got home Morgan was really into helping. She took out the trash, sorted laundry & helped me make tuna fish. Then she was finished & took off to her room to play. I got all my laundry caught up today & a lot accomplished on the house. It has been HOT all day & I have been lucky the kids didn't want to be outside.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Last week was the annual Southern Kentucky Classic in Burkesville...a whole week of men's softball! I went Monday & Tuesday night by myself because the kids were out visiting grandparents. They came home Wednesday after being gone for 6 days...we went to the movies & saw...

it was an AWESOME movie! Thursday night I took the kids to the Southern & they had fun playing with the other kids...



The kids were at their daddy's for the weekend so I went back to the Southern to watch some more softball.

This week they started swimming lessons...
