Weekend Off

I haven't had a full weekend off in a month...and sickness hit our house :(  Friday night while I was working I started feeling bad.  I thought it was something I had ate until the hubby got sick on Saturday night.  Saturday, Bobby had to cook for a birthday party.  We enjoyed time with family.

After the party we headed to BG for Shogun's.  I have been wanting Shogun's for a couple of months.

Back To School Open House

Open house was successful!!!  The kids are excited about starting a new school!  I was amazed by the school and all the learning resources they have available.  We are looking forward to an amazing year!

Haylee, Morgan & Spencer before open house

Morgan will be in the 6th grade, but will still be in the elementary school.  All the 6th grade students will be at the same school.  They will have 8 periods & will be switching classes to get them ready for middle school.  Morgan was a little nervous about meeting her teachers, but they were all very welcoming.  The assured all the students that it would take some getting used to, but they would be there to guide them & help them along the way.  In Math class their tables are dry erase tables...it was really neat.  They will work their Math problems on their desk & wipe it off.  Morgan was amazed by the Science room.  It is set up like a high school Chemistry room.  The teacher said they would be doing a lot of hands on learning.  There was even a human skeleton they will use to learn the bones of the body.

Spencer will be in the 4th grade.  Haylee is in his class also & they have the same teacher.  They were excited to be together...they will even be sharing a locker :)  They also have a huge Science room.

Morgan & Spencer explored the halls of their new school.  The LOVED the library!

We are excited about starting this new adventure in our lives :)

Sleep Over

I got the kids registered for school this morning. They will be switching schools this year. They are excited & I hope they transition easily. We will attend open house on Thursday night to meet their teachers.

We then headed to pick up one of Spencer's friends. We are having a sleepover at our house tonight. The boys went straight for the Playstation 3 while I headed straight to bed. I was planning to stay up all day since I only have one day off, but Bobby says I get crabby before bedtime. I decided a nap was a good idea today.

Morgan spent the night with Madi & Audi last night. They all spent the day at the water park. On their way home we met them to pick up the girls.

We had to make a trip to Walmart to get their school supplies. Their list weren't very long, but I let the kids pick out their stuff.

We had one of the kids favorite meals for supper...Cavatini. (will post recipe soon)

After supper the kids want to cut one of the watermelons. They went outside to eat & play.

They have had a great time together. Before last night it has been a while since the three girls have spent time together. They have played & played & played some more. I can remember when they were little and would always wanted to be with each other.

The girl made a batch of brownies. Then they all headed to the table to play board games.

I had to do a limitless nursing work at home on my day off. Bobby either got something in his eye or burnt it today at work. It was red & very irritated. I flushed it several times & found some eye drops in the medicine drawer. I put the patch in it because he wouldn't quit rubbing it & he was just making it worse.

SomerSplash & Shoe Shopping

I feel like a walking zombie after working all night and running all day on no sleep, but we have had an GrEaT day!!! Bobby & the kids picked me up from work & we headed to SomerSplash.  When we got there it was cloudy & even sprinkled a little.  After getting sprayed down with sunscreen the kids scattered in all directions (with their buddies).  Gracie headed to the kiddie area, Morgan/Harley headed to the wave pool & Spencer/Haylee to the water slides.

Spencer & Haylee
The Girl Scout troop Morgan had been in for the last few years was there.  Morgan ended up being Ally's buddy for a while.

Morgan & Ally riding the water slide

Bobby & I rode a few water slides together; then we headed to the lazy river.  It wasn't long until Gracie ventured to the lazy river with us.

Spencer met up with some friends from school & rode rides with them.  He was glad to see Lucas & Logan.

Bobby & I went to the wave pool & Gracie followed us, but she stayed at the edge of the water.  Next thing we knew she had a life jacket on & was out in the water.  She ended up taking the life jacket off & getting on the float with us to ride the waves.  She LOVED it.  She kept saying "This is so much fun"  When we got out she wanted to ride the water slides.  She wasn't tall enough to ride any of them by herself,, so I rode with her.  She was scared & nervous at first.  When we got to the top of the stairs she wasn't so sure.  She kept asking me if I promised I wouldn't let go of her.  I told her time & time again I would hold on to her & I wouldn't let anything happen to her.  She sat in my lap & went down the slide.  When we got to the bottom she wanted to ride again.  We ended up riding the same slide 5 times.

After she got brave on the blue slide she wanted to ride the toilet bowl.  I rode it with her.  When we went down the drain the float flipped us out.  I immediately gabbed her.  The float was on top of us so we went underwater when we hit the pool.  I figured she would flip out, but the first words out of her mouth was she wanted to do it again.

The three older girls rode the speed slide for the first time.  Haylee went first...

Harley went next...

Morgan finally decided she was going to try it.

Gracie got brave & wanted to ride the blue slide with her daddy.  He tried to tell her he was too heavy & would flip the float, but she still wanted to go.  They ended up flipping, but it didnt'

Then Morgan wanted to ride with Bobby.  She somehow managed to stay on the float, even though he flipped off

I seen smething today that I have put on my wish list...a LifeProof case for my I-phone!

 School shoes are bought!!

Harley's shoes she got for her birthday still fit & look brand new so she didn't need any new shoes.

Summer's Almost Over

I can't believe summer is almost over & the kids will head back to school in less than two weeks.  Since I have been working nights all summer it seems we haven't gotten to do a whole lot of day activities.  When I was in nursing school we spent the whole summer traveling the roads, at the pool/water park, playing baseball.  Now I work & sleep (or try to sleep).  Eight hour nights are a whole lot easier to survive on very little sleep...which I am thankful for!  I am usually up by lunch time, but really don't feel like doing anything except staying in the house where it is cool.  The sun hurts my eyes, because I am used to being asleep when it is out.  Night shift can sure mess your whole body and mind up.  Maybe someday soon I can get a day shift job!

Tomorrow we are taking a day trip to the water park.  Please say a prayer for a good trip.  I will be running on NO sleep, because I have to work all night.  We wanted to do something with the kids before schools started back.  It is much harder taking five kids somewhere vs. taking two.  Some trips are great and the kids are all well behaved & some trips are disasters before we even leave the driveway.  I hope they all wake up in a good mood tomorrow.

We have so many things to do before school starts back.  Here are some of them...

*School supplies for all the kids
*School shoes
*Morgan's physical & shots
*Get the kids registered for their new school (more on this later)
*Open House to meet the teachers

I may have to take out a small loan...lol  Thankfully a family member has already taken Morgan shopping & Spencer is going this weekend.  They should be set on clothes until winter.  Haylee, Harley & Gracie are only here half the week, so they have plenty of clothes.

Lazy Day (7-21-12)

Our new appliances arrived this morning. The washer & dryer are awesome. They will hold so many more clothes...less loads of laundry for me :)

I can't wait to go to Sam's & fill this up!!

After we got them set up we headed to town to waste some time. We went to several thrift shops, we picked up a few things.

Now we are back at home watching movies & doing laundry until time to head to work.  Peanut even got a bath today ;)

Happy Saturday :)

Thank You Cards Finished

I got the Thank You notes finished & in the mail. I know I'm a little late, but better late than never :)

Our dryer finally bit the dust. It has been messed up for a few months. It was eating clothes & tearing them up. We kept putting off buy a new one until we absolutely had to. Last night Bobby said it made a loud noise & starting stinking. So tonight we went to buy a new one. We talked about a front load, but I have heard so many mixed reviews on them I decided I didn't want one. Our new set will be delivered tomorrow. We also go a chest freezer.

Last weekend we went to Sam's club to get a membership. We are going to start buying groceries by the bulk since the kids are getting older & eating more.

Riding Out The Storms

We have had pop up thunderstorms the last several afternoons/nights. Tonight I didn't want to drive to work in the pouring down rain, so we headed to Bobby's aunts to hang out & ride out the storms until time to go to work. The kids made theirselves at home.

Random

Just a few random thoughts...

*Morgan and Spencer are back home. I have missed them bunches. They spent a week with their daddy; then they went to Granddaddy's for a week of bible school. They enjoyed bible school & brought home all the things they made. I'm glad they are back home.

*I am LoViNg 8 hour shifts. When I first started my new job I wasn't so sure I had made the right decision for myself or my family, but things are getting better every night as I learn more.

*My favorite summer show started last week, Big Brother. I missed the first episode because I worked a 12 hour shift that night, but I was able to catch the second show on Sunday. I don't have a favorite yet but I will let you know after a few more episodes. There are even two guys from KY on this season.

*I finally started my thank you notes from the wedding. I have got some of them delivered & my goal is to have them all done by the end of the week. My OCD kicked in while I was doing them though. I will share the finished product when I get them all delivered.

No Excuses

I should have no excuses as to why I don't blog more. Life has just been extremely busy & I have been lazy! I even have the blogger app on my I-phone, so I could blog on the go. In the last two weeks I have switched jobs & went to day shift. This has flipped my whole world upside down. I have worked night shift for almost a year and let me tell you. I DID NOT like getting up at 4:30 am last week. I was crabby & irritable. I loved the fact that I was home every afternoon, but I was so tired. I would come home and clean, do laundry & cook supper before I ever sat down because I knew if I ever sat down it would be over. I LOVE 8 hour shifts & have gotten a little spoiled to them...I'm already dreading pulling my first 12 this week.

Starting a new job was very hard on me. I'm a person who doesn't adjust to change very easily. I like things my routines (my hubby says I'm OCD...which is a whole post in itself). After two weeks it is getting easier for me to adjust. I'm hopeful this week will make things a lot better as I will finally be back on night shift (we will see).

Right now I'm missing the kids!!! My kids have been gone for over a week & won't be back until this weekend. Last week they spent the week with their daddy. This week they are going to bible school with my dad. I have talked to them every day and they are having fun...so that's all that matters. Morgan has been playing with Jackson (her donkey) & she is very excited that he is now letting her pet him. The other three will be here the rest of the week. Two of them should be here anytime & the other will be here tomorrow. They haven't been here since last Friday. The fair is in town this week; we are going to try to take all the kids one night while I'm off work.

We finally got some rain & relief from the extreme temperatures. It has been well over 100 degrees here for several weeks. Our grass was dead and our house wouldn't stay cool. We added an air conditioner upstairs in the girls room to try help keep the house cool, but with the temperatures so high it didn't help much. There were days it was 78 degrees in our house & if we turned the stove/oven on to cook it got even hotter. Now that the temperatures are back in the 80's it is staying 70 in the house. Much more comfortable for everyone.

Over the weekend it was just the hubby and me. We didn't have any plans so Saturday we headed to his aunt & uncles to try to get them out o the house for a while. We all went riding the back roads. I love them two They always make me laugh & smile. We ended up in Somerset at Golden Corral to eat supper. I love their salads & they laughed at me because that is all I ate...except an ice cream come. After eating we headed back to the house. The hubby & I curled up I. The couch for a movie night. We watched Tyler Perry's new movie "Good Deeds". It was a good movie. I like all of his movies though.

Sunday morning we got up and headed to church. It is always good to be in God's house. Bobby always says the preacher is preaching to me & there are a lot of days he does. That's why I am there!!!! After church we went to eat lunch with his family at Pizza Hut. Then we headed to his mom & dad's to teach his niece how to parallel park for her driving test (which he took Monday morning & passed...Congrats Delana). We watched another movie when we got home. The hubby wasn't as interested in it as I was, but I thought it was a good movie. "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" kept my attention & was a little sad, but I would definitely watch it again.

Monday night we had another movie night. We watched "Life As We Know It" which was really good too. My hubby was amazed that I watched 3 movies all the way through 3 nights in a row. I'm not much of a movie person; I can't sit still long enough. Plus my attention span is not very log. There is always something else that is running through my mind that needs to be done. I was mighty proud of myself too!!

Hopefully soon I will get back blogging regularly. I have been looking for ways/things to inspire me to start doing better. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!!

Night at the Ballpark with Spencer

Spencer has been wanting to go to the Hot Rods game all season.  Meme got us tickets, so we headed to BG.  Morgan was supposed to go with us, but she decided to stay in the pool at her daddy's.  Teresa & Justin went with us.  The boys had a great time.  The Hot Rods won & we got to watch fire works after the game.
