48 hours of terror

Note:  Writing in orange is twitter updates while we were gone.

What a 48 hours.  It all started Thursday morning.  Bobby woke up with a massive head-ache.  His head had been hurting since Monday.  I told him I was taking him somewhere to have it seen about.  We headed to Columbia Emergency Room.  His blood pressure was 178/106 when we got to the ER.  They did a CT scan on his head, gave him some pain medicine & blood pressure medicine IV.  They sent us home with blood pressure prescriptions.  Here are a few pictures from Columbia ER.

After going to get his medicine filled I went and got the kids off the bus. I headed to work & left Morgan & Spencer home with Bobby. He said he was feeling better & his BP was down, so I headed to work.

On Friday morning when I got home Bobby was sitting on the couch and said his head was busting again.  I give him some more headache medicine and ask him if he had taken his BP medicine.  He said yes.  I was so tired I went and laid down.  I woke up to the phone ringing.  When I answered this is what I heard "They are sending me to Louisville because they think I have an aneurysm".  I think my world stopped for a second at that moment.  I asked him what was going on and he tried to explain it to me, but I wasn't satisfied with his responses.  He told me to stay home and go get all the kids and he would go by himself.  I told him not on his life.  I called and got all the kids took care of & ran out the door with nothing in hand but my phone and the clothes on my back.

When I got to Columbia hospital he was in the ER on the stretcher.  His aunt was there with him and he looked horrible.  He said they had tried to do a spinal tap on him and they didn't get it.  I still didn't know what was going on until the doctor came in and talked to us.  I tried to get him to send us to BG because that's where I work and it would have been more convenient for everyone to be there to help.   The doctor said he would feel more comfortable if something was going on if we were up there.  So we headed to Louisville.  They wouldn't let him ride with me up there he had to ride in the Ambulance.  When we left Columbia his BP was 176/98.  They never gave him anything at Columbia for his BP.  They loaded him on the ambulance and I followed them.  I was on there bumper all the way up there.  We drove 75-90...back roads and all.  I was a nervous wreck all the way up there.  Thank goodness for everyone who listened to me cry and talk all the way to Louisville.

When we got to Louisville they already had us a room.  They took Bobby's BP when we got there and it was 189/110.  They got him in the bed and all the paperwork filled out.  After they got him settled in they started on IV fluids.  (At Norton's waiting 2 see what's going on & hoping 2 get answers...Please continue 2 pray 4 Bobby)

His sister & brother-in-law got there about 45 mins after we did.  When they got there we had to run to Target to get Bobby some pajama pants, deo and some snacks/drinks.  While we were gone the nurse came in and told Bobby they would do a CT scan tonight & he couldn't have anything to eat/drink after midnight just in case the CT scan showed something.  If the CT scan showed anything they would do surgery on Saturday.  I knew as soon as I left they would come in with information.  While I was gone they came in and gave him some BP medicine.  When I got back he got his clothes changed and tried to eat something.  He couldn't eat because it made him sick.  It BP was still high so they gave him some pain medicine to try to bring in down & relief some of his pain.  The IV medicine didn't help so they gave him a pain pill by mouth.  They ended up having to give him another IV pain medicine before he finally got some relief and his BP started coming down.  He was higher then a kite.  His brother-in-law went to get him a smokeless cigarette because he couldn't go smoke.  Here is a picture of him high, smoking his cigarette.

His sister stayed with us until almost midnight.  When she left Bobby's BP was 134/85.  After she left we curled up in the bed and tried to go to sleep.  They were in and out of the room all night, so we didn't get but a couple of hours of sleep. (Waiting 4 them 2 come get Bobby 4 a CTA. Praying for good results & 2 find out what's going on. Thxs 4 all the calls/texts/prayers.)

Saturday morning they started coming in at 4 to draw blood.  At 5:15 they came to get him to do a CTA of his brain.  (Bobby has gone down 4 his CTA. Praying 4 answers & good results. BP is down this morning...106/65 (YAY). I have never seen it that low.)

He was only gone for about 15 minutes and they brought him back.  They said his lab work wasn't back yet so they couldn't do the CTA yet.  They wanted to make sure his kidneys were able to excrete the dye.  They said it would be about 30 mins to 1 hour and they could come back and get him to do the CTA.  We decided to stay awake because there was no sense in being woke up in that short amount of time.  I went downstairs to smoke and when I came back this is what I saw.

They had to start a new IV for the dye to go through.  They tried to stick him in the AC with an 18 gauge and missed.  They finally got one a 20 gauge in the left forearm.  After they got his IV started we layed back down & dozed back off to sleep.  His BP stayed down all night.  It was 106/62 when we woke up Saturday morning.  The nurse came in and said they were going to do the spinal tap & CTA at the same time.  They had to wait on the radiologist on call to come from the main hospital.  (Been a long morning. Still waiting 4 him 2 get CT. Brought him back earlier bc lab work wasn't back yet. He is resting & in no pain. BP is down & been down all night :). Thanks 4 all the prayers/texts/calls. Keep praying & I will update when we know something)
At 11:30 they took him down to do all the test.  (Bobby has gone down 4 his CTA & spinal tap. Keep those prayers coming. Will update when I know more.) (He is back in the room. Both test complete just waiting 4 results. Pain is back & BP is going back up. Praying we find out what's causing it)When he came back he had to lay flat for 3 hours.  He was in a lot of pain with his head and back.  They give him a pain shot and it didn't touch the pain, so they gave him a pain pill.  Neither touched his pain so I asked the nurse to check his BP.  It was 158/101 so they gave him some BP medicine IV.  Here is a picture of him in his pain.

His brother and sister-in-law came up and brought Gracie & Harley.  Here is a few pictures of the girls with Bobby. (BP back up & pain is back. Still no results from CTA. Spinal tap was ok)

The doctor came in and said the CTA scan came back fine and the headaches where caused by his high BP.  I wasn't satisfied with that answer.  He said he was going to look at his blood work & labs and if everything was normal we could go home.  I wanted to know what was causing his headaches because they were always in the same place and Bobby said they felt like pressure instead of a headache.  I wanted some answers before I left.  When the dr came back he said he had a severe sinus infection.  He said we could go home with antibiotics, blood pressure pills, pain pill & an antihistamine.  We gathered all our things up and headed home.  On the way home Bobby kept saying he felt sick.  We stopped and got him something to eat but he was only able to eat a few bites.

We stopped at Walmart to get all his medication filled.  As soon as we got home he stumbled to the bathroom and got sick at his stomach.  I gave him all his medicine and he laid in the chair.  His brother & sister-in-law came up for a little while.  Then we both took showers/baths & went to bed.  (We r home. CT scan showed severe sinus infection. He has a ton of meds & is still weak/dizzy. Thanks 4 all the prayers/text/calls.)
