Smoky Mountains--Day 1

Friday morning when I got off work we headed to Bobby's Aunt & Uncle's house to pick them up to head to The Smoky Mountains for the weekend.  We had been planning this trip since the end of September, but due to Bobby's dad having two stokes we postponed it until he was in better health.  We didn't want to be 200 miles away with him being in & out of the hospital.  He is now home and is doing well.  He still has a long road of therapy ahead of him.

We got on the road around 7:30 am.  I cat-napped on the way down due to working all night the night before.  We arrived around lunch time.  Our first stop was the knife store.

After spending hours in the knife store we headed to get our room.  We unloaded all our luggage and headed to Cades Cove.

We were not too impressed with Cades Cove.  We could have driven down back roads around the house and saw deer/turkey.  There were some old buildings, but we didn't get out to look at them.

After spending several hours driving we headed back to grab a bite to eat.  The older generation was wore out and wanted to grab something fast food to take back to the room to eat.  We got them some food & got them settled back in their rooms.  Then the hubby & I headed out to eat for his birthday.  We ended up at Fuddrucker's.

After eating we headed back to the room to relax.  Everything was decorated for Christmas & we got to see the beautiful lights all the way back to Gatlinburg.
