Saturday morning I woke up & wondered if this was REALLY the end of my nursing school experience...I like to look at it as MANY new beginnings. I knew it would be a busy, but rewarding day.
First thing on the agenda for the day. WKU ADN PINNING CEREMONY at 11. When we arrived I started to get nervous. I was hoping to make it through the ceremony without any tears (yeah right). The pinning ceremony is just for our nursing class so it is a more personal ceremony for "us". I will give you a little recap of the ceremony. We walked in to Miley Cyrus "The Climb". When I was walking down the aisle I was trying to remember to breathe & trying not to cry.
Trying not to cry ;)
A student from Bowling Green campus said the opening prayer. Then the director of the nursing program said a few words. Glasgow interim director said a few words and the interim director at the Commonwealth school said a few words. Then the class speakers got to say their speeches. We got to vote on who we wanted to speak for our class. Sherri, my study buddy & good friend spoke for the Glasgow campus.
Sherri did a WONDERFUL job on her speech! WAY TO GO SHERRI!
Next was Bowling Green campus. After the speakers they played our slide show with all our "Thank you's & our nursing pictures". I posted my "Thank You's" here (I cried like a baby when they played them). Then they gave out the friendship award & academic award for both campus's. Next they presented all the KANS (Kentucky Association of Nursing Students) officers with a plaque.
Next it was time for pinning. This is what I had been waiting for. I was very nervous standing up there waiting to be pinned.
At this point I thought I might cry
Mrs. Underwood pinning me. This woman has helped me more than she will ever know!
A BIG HUG!
Then as a class we recited the Nightingale Pledge
I solemnly pledge myself before God
And in the presence of this assembly:
To pass my life in purity and
to practice faithfully;
I will abstain from whatever is delleterious
and mischiecous
And will not take or knowingly administer
any harmful drugs;
I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate
the standard of the profession, and
will hold in condidence all personal matters
committed to my keeping and
all family affairs coming to my
knowledge in the practice of my calling;
With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician
in his work,
And devote myself to the welfar of those
committed to my care.

Time for a group picture.
Then it was time to walk out to "Celebration".
